What is a "shop update" and how does it work?

Due to the slow nature of handmade items, we post one of a kind pieces for sale every few months. The shop update date and time is usually announced on instagram (and/or to email subscribers) and everyone will be able to access the sale at the designated time. Items are all ready to ship and come in recycled gift packaging. 

What is the processing time for my order?

The time needed to prepare an order for shipping varies. Most items are handmade and made-to-order- therefore, please allow up to 4 weeks for production time. Some pieces are faster than others so if you have a question about a particular piece, please feel free to email us!

How do I care for my jewelry?

Please take care of your jewelry by keeping it clean and away from water, soaps and lotions. Store your pieces in a dry location. Sunshine Polishing Cloths are available in the shop and can be used to clean and polish a variety of metals such as sterling silver, gold-filled, or brass. You can polish your brass pieces to a golden shine or allow them to darken and develop a patina over time.

What is gold-filled?

Gold-filled metal is not actually filled with gold. "Gold-filled" is simply an age-old term that became accepted in the jewelry industry. Today, gold-filled is a quality designation that's regulated by the FTC. To merit a "GF" stamp, the material must have a layer of gold that is at least 10-karat mechanically applied to a base metal; the karat gold layer must also be at least 1/20 (5%) of the item's total weight. 

Gold-filled is made by heat- and pressure-bonding a thin layer of karat gold to a brass (or other base metal) core. The value of gold-filled is greater than gold-plated because gold-filled has an actual layer of karat gold, not just a microscopic film, as is the case with gold-plated items. The karat gold covering also significantly increases the tarnish resistance of the metal. Unlike gold plated jewelry, gold-filled items will not tarnish or flake, and have a similar appearance to solid gold. 

Do you accept exchanges?

We want you to love your new jewelry so we gladly accept exchanges within 14 days of delivery if you are not happy with something. However, please note that custom items and rings (made specifically in your size) cannot be exchanged. Please double check your size before ordering :)

Do you care about sustainability?

Yes! Wholeheartedly. We strive to use recycled metals as well as repurposed/vintage beads whenever possible. We're also aiming to have 100% plastic free, recycled shipping and local pickup options for Santa Cruz residents.
